Purpose | The purpose of these positions is to deliver participation and support to VJBL teams aimed at increasing the quality and number of playing participants and coaches in the Association |
Primary responsibilities:
Implement CBA’s playing philosophy and ensure coaching staff implement and build on this through the age groups. |
At start of season, organise inter club practice games |
At start of season, organise training timetable with administrator after tryout |
Attend 4 weekly home games and provide feedback to coaching staff as appropriate. |
Attend practices of teams of above watched games on the immediate Sunday after to discuss performance and provide feedback to coaches and players. |
Availability to assist at CBA VJBL games as required; e.g., when coaches are unavailable. |
Support, guide and mentor the CBA’s VJBL coaching staff during training and games to improve technical and tactical capabilities. |
Ensure positive coaching practices are applied and create a positive club culture led by the coaching staff. |
Conduct quarterly coaching staff reviews with CBA’s Vice President to support continuous improvemen |
Coordinate and implement ongoing development and accreditation opportunities for VJBL coaching staff. |
Have a sound understanding of the CBA’s and BV’s codes of conduct and support its adherence within VJBL teams. |
Disseminate information to VJBL coaching staff including coaching resources, current practices and relevant communication from BV and VJBL. |
Provide a point of contact for VJBL players and parents as required. |
Continually seek out potential coaching staff for recruitment and encourage the undertaking of training and accreditation. |
Foster the growth and raise the standards of coaching staff within the VJBL. |
EXTRA PAYMENT BY THE HOUR FOR: school holiday clinics, Sunday shooter clinics, mini classic tournament – all clinics to be coordinated through club administrator on PlayHQ. |

This role is key in the development of players and coaches within the Coburg Basketball Association. The Director of Coaching must therefore aspire to the highest standards of excellence, including:

Midweek training sessions – organise training timetable with administrator, assist coaches with drills and skills | 4 hours |
Communication via email, phone calls, social media, organisation of coaching courses | 2 hours |
Mediation and conflict management between parents & coaches (10 hours for season – 20 weeks x 0.5hrs) | 0.5 hours |
Monthly Reporting to board on teams, issues etc. & quarterly coaching reviews | 1 hours |
Visit Little Giants training and provide feedback, scout domestic under 10 games to invite players to join Little Giants | 0.5 hours |
TOTAL HOURS per week (school holidays not included, need to run clinics for extra payments) | 15 hours |

Purpose | The Community Development Officer leads in the development of participation and of players and coaches at domestic and entry level at Coburg Basketball Association. The CDO will act as the main point of contact for all community level development programs and for coach development for CBA member domestic clubs. The CDO will work closely with the Junior Domestic delegates, the Competition Administrator and the Vice President. Management of all Social Media posts. |
