2022 VJBL Season contract – to be reviewed & renewed at the end of each season
Purpose
The purpose of these positions is to deliver participation and support to VJBL teams aimed at increasing the quality and number of playing participants and coaches in the Association

Primary responsibilities: 

Implement CBA’s playing philosophy and ensure coaching staff implement and build on this through the age groups.
At start of season, organise inter club practice games
At start of season, organise training timetable with administrator after tryout
Attend 4 weekly home games and provide feedback to coaching staff as appropriate.
Attend practices of teams of above watched games on the immediate Sunday after to discuss performance and provide feedback to coaches and players.
Availability to assist at CBA VJBL games as required; e.g., when coaches are unavailable.
Support, guide and mentor the CBA’s VJBL coaching staff during training and games to improve technical and tactical capabilities.
Ensure positive coaching practices are applied and create a positive club culture led by the coaching staff.
Conduct quarterly coaching staff reviews with CBA’s Vice President to support continuous improvemen
Coordinate and implement ongoing development and accreditation opportunities for VJBL coaching staff.
Have a sound understanding of the CBA’s and BV’s codes of conduct and support its adherence within VJBL teams.
Disseminate information to VJBL coaching staff including coaching resources, current practices and relevant communication from BV and VJBL.
Provide a point of contact for VJBL players and parents as required.
Continually seek out potential coaching staff for recruitment and encourage the undertaking of training and accreditation.
Foster the growth and raise the standards of coaching staff within the VJBL.
EXTRA PAYMENT BY THE HOUR FOR: school holiday clinics, Sunday shooter clinics, mini classic tournament – all clinics to be coordinated through club administrator on PlayHQ.
Little Giants trainings and provide feedback, scout domestic under 10 games to invite players to join Little Giants

Note:

Coaching Coordinators will ONLY BE PERMITTED TO COACH an individual team, if it does not conflict with their coordinator position.
Key Responsibilities
  • Actively mentor Junior representative program
  • Organise delivery of primary school participation clinics and programs
  • Establish and maintain strong communications with junior clubs
  • Coordinate player clinics/sessions with affiliated clubs during tryouts
  • Coordinate coaching clinic and session for affiliated clubs every 6 months
  • Encourage beginner coaches including players and parents to undertake formal coach education and/or to become accredited coaches must have level 1 to coach VJBL or higher
  • Organise the delivery of coach education programs and accredited courses
  • Promote the association and its activities to social media personnel
  • Attend all events including junior grand final days, and fundraising activities
  • Liase with Competition Administrator
  • Liase with Development Officer

  • All KPI’s achieved as per attached
  • Number of coach courses and clinics
  • High level of customer satisfaction
  • Retention of players and coaches
Desired Capabilities/Competencies

This role is key in the development of players and coaches within the Coburg Basketball Association. The Director of Coaching must therefore aspire to the highest standards of excellence, including:

  • Current Level 2 or higher coach accreditation;
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check card.
  • Be efficient, highly organised and with excellent attention to detail

Purpose
The Community Development Officer leads in the development of participation and of players and coaches at domestic and entry level at Coburg Basketball Association. The CDO will act as the main point of contact for all community level development programs and for coach development for CBA member domestic clubs. The CDO will work closely with the Junior Domestic delegates, the Competition Administrator and the Vice President. Management of all Social Media posts.

  • Provide coach development support to domestic clubs.
  • Domestic Coach Development Sessions.
  • Oversee, run and develop coaches in Aussie Hoops Program.
  • Oversee Domestic level development programs – Domestic Drills and Skills.
  • Domestic Coach Development-Mentoring, games, trainings
  • Domestic Coach education sessions via Zoom.
  • Oversee Sporting schools Program and grow number of programs every year.
  • Oversee Domestic level Holiday programs.
  • Establish and run Domestic Coach academy
  • Promote and run walking basketball program
  • Develop original and engaging content ideas and deliver these across Facebook, Instagram and website.
  • Regular social media posts on match reports, videos, interviews and social media assets.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to maximize opportunities to promote CBA and related partnerships through digital media.

Desired Capabilities/Competencies
  • VJBL Level 2 Coaching preferably – or willing to work towards it
  • Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Motor Vehicle Driver’s license
  • Knowledge of the sport industry within Australia and familiarity with the domestic sporting landscape
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Australia
  • Experience working in a member-based organisation

Primary responsibilities: 

Aussie Hoops
  • Coordination & running of Aussie Hoops program or equivalent, including kindergarten and school aged.
  • Help drive the growth of the program with promotion
  • Seek out opportunities for new school & kinder-based Aussie Hoops programs
  • Ensure all sessions are staffed with qualified coaches
  • Facilitate the education, development and mentoring of Aussie Hoops coaches
  • Recruit and develop new Aussie Hoops coaches
  • Implement Basketball Australia’s Aussie Hoops coaching curriculum and coaching guidelines
  • Lead Aussie Hoops sessions on court as required
  • End of Term accreditation
  • Discussion with parents of pathways into domestic competition
Schools and Kindergartens Programs
  • Assist in building relationships between CBA, local schools & kindergartens and facilitating programs
  • Develop a schools information package
  • Promote and grow the CBA Sporting Schools Program
  • Promote and grow opportunities for “Excite Sessions” and other school-based clinics
  • Ensure all sessions are staffed with qualified coaches
  • Facilitate the education, development and mentoring of casual development coaches
  • Recruit and develop new school program coaches
  • Act as Lead Coach and consult with VP in school clinics and programs where appropriate
Domestic Coaching Support and Coach Education
  • Assist the implementation of all domestic coaching support provided to member clubs
  • Coordinate all domestic coaching support bookings with domestic clubs
  • Development of content for domestic coach education and resource sharing
  • Delivery of domestic coach education clinics
Administration and Program Development
  • Develop new basketball programs in the grass roots and domestic space (eg. Drills and Skills, Domestic holiday clinics, Tiny Tots program)
  • Assist in the administration of existing and new basketball programs
  • Other appropriate duties or tasks as assigned by the CBA Board
Social Media
  • Minimum of seven appropriate social media posts per week across a variety of programs: VJBL, Domestic, Programs, BIG V, Referees, Aussie Hoops, Walking Basketball, kindergarten programs, player of the week, team highlights and events
  • All posts directed by the CBA board and Coaching Coordinators
