Return to Sport Update - Message from Basketball Victoria

16 September 2020

Dear Coburg Basketball Members,

Please see below updates regarding the easing of Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions and the impact on basketball, High-Performance Tournament and Event cancellations, opportunities through the Victorian Business Resilience Package, plus an announcement on resources for facilities and infrastructure projects.

Return to Basketball and Current Restrictions

While we are heading in the right direction with COVID-19 case numbers and are pleased to see the further easing of restrictions for regional Victoria, unfortunately, indoor sport is still located within the Governments last step. We continue to discuss with Sport and Recreation Victoria and advocate for a clearer path for basketball to return as soon as possible, when safe to do so.

As of September 17, Regional Victorian's can participate in outdoor activity and training as per the Roadmap's Third Step. In alignment with our Return to Sport Guidelines the restrictions are:

Regional Victoria

FOR 18 YEARS OLD AND UNDER:
  • Current Reactivation Status = ORANGE-20
  • Contact and non-contact training for outdoor training only
FOR 19 YEARS OLD AND OVER:
  • Current Reactivation Status = RED-10
  • Non-contact training for outdoor training only

Please see one page guide to assist or visit our COVID-19 pages.

High Performance and Country Event Cancellations

With Victoria navigating its way through the current COVID-19 restriction roadmap, and with the focus on a successful return of grassroots basketball for the community, unfortunately we have had to cancel a selection of high-performance and country tournaments and events in the latter part of 2020 / early 2021 or withdraw teams where necessary. Please visit here for a full update
