Dear Coburg Basketball Association Members,
The Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health(formerly DHHS), has enacted a circuit-breaker lockdown for all of Victoria, with these measures in effect from Thursday 27 May at 11.59pm until Thursday 3 June at 11.59pm.
In line with Victorian Government health directives, for the next seven days, basketball in Victoria will be reduced to the RED-0 REACTIVATION LEVEL as per the Basketball Victoria Return to Sport Guidelines.
Basketball Victoria has cancelled all Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) games scheduled for Friday 28 May. This round will not be replayed or caught up due to previous catch-up games held for the February lockdown using the reserve weeks. Further information regarding the Friday 4 June VJBL round will be announced during the week.
Basketball Victoria has postponed all Big V games scheduled for the weekend of 28-30 May. This roundwill be rescheduled with further information about rescheduled dates and other potential round postponements will be announced next week.
Basketball Victoria and the NBL are working with the Victorian Government to obtain Professional Sports Exemptions for athletes so the majority of NBL1 South games can take place this weekend. Games between Mt Gambier and Hobart will proceed as previously scheduled as thoseteams have been re-routed through Sydney. We will have further information on the status of these games as soon as possible.
Basketball Victoria has not made a decisionregarding the status of the National Junior Classic, scheduled for 12-14 June 2021 at Dandenong Basketball Stadium and the State Basketball Centre. Further information regarding this event will be announced as soon as available.
All Basketball Victoria school events scheduled for this week, including Bulla Hoop Time and the Victorian College Championships, will be cancelled.
Victoria Metropolitan and Victoria Country under-16 state team training sessions have been cancelled until further notice.
Alternative arrangements for our programs, events and competitionswill be announcedat a later date.
We will be in close communication with the Department of Health and Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) to ensure basketball can reactivateas quickly as possible following this seven-day circuit-breaker lockdown.
