Dear Coburg Basketball Association Members,
As noted yesterday, the Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health, has further eased restrictions from the circuit-breaker lockdown for Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria, with these measures starting from Thursday 10 June at 11.59pm.
We have received some further information from Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) today but are yet to receive updated Restricted Activity Directions (RADs) via the Department of Health which are now due tomorrow.
Therefore, in regard to the current proposed restrictions, at this stage the following applies for all basketball training, competition or activity until Thursday 17 June at 11.59pm:
We will continue to lobby on behalf of basketball and liaise with SRV for further easing of restrictions in the near future when practical and safe to do so.
Masks are currently mandatory for all patrons over 12 years of age at all times indoors (state-wide) and outdoors (in Greater Melbourne only) unless medically exempt. Players, coaches and referees are exempt while on court participating in an exertive role, however, must be worn while not playing and on entry and exit of stadium.
With the Victorian Government announcing that further restrictions could be eased late next week, we will have additional information to release at that stage.
For more information about current COVIDSafe settings and the vaccination program, please visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au.
We would also like to offer our thoughts and support to those communities affected by the recent weather and floods, with a number of major flood and evacuation orders in the last 24hrs and some stadiums used as evacuation centres eg Traralgon. Please stay up to date with warnings and advice via the Vic Emergency website or App.
Best Regards,
Nick Honey
