Public consultation is now opened for the Coburg North Sports Precinct by Merri-bek Council. Coburg Basketball Stadium is one of the five facilities being looked at within the sporting precinct.
Merri-bek Council has partnered with Local Sports Club’s including Coburg Basketball Association for the development of a Masterplan in Coburg North. We need our membership (YOU) to get involved and push for the needs of a redevelopment and upgrade of the Stadium that includes:
- State of Art Stadium Facilities.
- Inclusion of Addition Courts.
- Inclusion of Show Court.
- Upgraded toilets and associated amenity.
- Upgraded contemporary team change facilities (both home and away).
- Upgraded Referee changerooms.
- Accessible foyer, including seating area and improved café area.
- Meeting rooms and office spaces.
- Appropriate storage facilities.
Please include the above dot points in your submission.
The stadium has seen little/no upgrades since opening and this your chance to have your say on the investment needed. It is important that you get involved now and speak up!
Merri-bek Council have previously developed and Indoor Sporting Facilities Needs Analysis (2019) that identified the need for courts to support Basketball as its number one growing sport. To date no investment has been made. This opportunity through Federal Government support for a Masterplan may be our chance to get a funding commitment from various levels of government.
